PotashCorp Releases 2009 Sustainability Report – The Simple Truth
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan — Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) today released its eighth annual sustainability report, The Simple Truth.
“We understand that to play a key role in the global food solution, we must meet our financial, social and environmental responsibilities so we can grow long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with our stakeholders,” said PotashCorp President and CEO Bill Doyle. “The simple truth is that sustainability is part of everything we do, and this report reflects that reality.”
Featuring five-year data charts and commentary, plus GRI reference tables and stories that illustrate some of the year’s most important initiatives, the report documents the company’s performance in governance, economic, social and environmental areas. Highlights include:
• Achieving record-low injury rates
• Adopting a Say on Pay vote for executive compensation
• Spending $1.3 billion on potash expansions and other capital projects
• Purchasing 62% of goods and services locally
• Reaching the highest employee training rate in five years, and
• Extending a mining permit at Aurora.
The report will be available only online at www.potashcorp2009SR.com. Those who prefer a printed version can download a PDF from the website.
