Media Release Attention News, City Lifestyle, Transportation, Health, Environment and Assignment Editors Best and brightest of cycling featured at 2008 Green Living Show From transportation to trick riding, it’s everything bikes! (Toronto, April 23, 2008) Thinking about greenhouse gas free transportation that makes you healthier while you have fun? Then have we got the show for you! This weekend, the Green Living Show is the place to be for anyone who wants to get back on a bicycle. The Direct Energy Centre will be packed with demonstrations, presentations and workshops on all things bike-related. Cycling enthusiasts and the general public alike will enjoy the Bike Track and Trials Area, supported by the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada (BTAC). This is much more than your typical consumer show - visitors can test drive the very latest bikes, learn how to properly fit a helmet, or participate in a CAN-BIKE workshop. World-class bike manufacturers will also be on hand (Booth 3039) to showcase their latest bikes and biking products. Participating manufacturers include: Batavus, Chariot Carriers, Fuji, Norco, Opus, Specialized, Trek and Urbanite. Janet O’Connell, Director of BTAC, is excited about the new partnership. “The Green Living Show is a natural fit for BTAC, since bikes are the greenest vehicles on the road – they use one-thousandth of the fuel and emit one-thousandth the greenhouse gases of a typical car. This is a terrific chance for us to showcase biking as a healthy, eco-friendly and fun activity.’ Visitors interested in the most current cycling trends, or general biking information, can visit one of several bike associations, including the Toronto Bicycling Network, the International Mountain Bike Association, the Toronto Cyclists Union and Sprockids. The dazzling skills of professional mountain-biker Ryan Leech will also be on display all weekend, with three performances each day.
