Media Advisory: Attention Community Calendar, Event Listing and News Editors LED leaders light up Toronto’s Exhibition Place with energy efficient technology event In partnership with the Toronto Atmospheric Fund, greenTbiz will host Toronto’s first LEDiscovery event on March 25-26th, 2008 as a part of the LightSavers program. The LEDiscovery exhibition is an opportunity for both professionals and the public to learn and share knowledge about LED (light-emitting diode) and adaptive lighting and control systems. These lighting technologies can reduce electricity consumption dramatically, resulting in distinct environmental benefits. LED outdoor lighting and control systems can last up to 100,000 hours, while reducing energy usage by over 50%. Other benefits include reduced maintenance costs and the flexibility of being adjustable in both colour and intensity (dimmed) to suit a wide range of site requirements. What: LEDiscovery When: March 25th and 26th, 2008 Where: Salon 107, Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place (inside Hall B entrance), 100 Princes’ Blvd., Toronto The March 25th activities are designed for the public and include three LEDiscussions. These presentations on the practical applications of LED technology will occur at 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm. The March 25th event is supported by the Community Conservation Initiatives Program of the Ontario Ministry of Energy. The March 26th agenda has been developed for government and industry representatives. Key features include a Manufacturers’ Display Forum and a Stakeholder meeting to discuss development of a technology assessment protocol. The LEDiscovery Forum will feature displays and demonstrations from various LED and Lighting Control manufacturers, as well as the LEDate. The LEDate sessions connect industry personnel with relevant agency and government representatives in a series of highly efficient ‘speed-meetings.’ The March 26th event is supported by the Technology Development Fund of the Ontario Power Authority and the Office of Energy Efficiency, Natural Resources Canada. Manufacturers interested in exhibiting at the Manufacturers Display Forum should contact Lindsay Adams at Lindsay (at) greenTbiz.org by March 17th.
