Media Advisory: Attention Community Calendar, Event Listing and News Editors LED (light- emitting diodes) leaders light up Toronto’s Exhibition Place with energy efficient technology event In partnership with the Toronto Atmospheric Fund, greenTbiz will host Toronto’s first LEDiscovery event on March 25-26, 2008 as a part of the LightSavers program. What: LEDiscovery When: Tuesday, March 25 (4:00 pm to 8:00 pm) and Wednesday, March 26, (8:00 am to 5:00pm) 2008 Where: *Salon 107, Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place (inside Hall B entrance), 100 Princes’ Blvd., Toronto *The March 25 activities are designed for the public and include three LEDiscussions. These presentations on the practical applications of LED technology will occur at 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm. *The March 26 agenda has been developed principally for government and industry representatives. *Key features include a Manufacturers’ Display Forum and technical briefing on LED and adaptive lighting control technology associated with outdoor and interior applications for industrial, institutional, municipal and residential applications(morning) *Stakeholder meeting to discuss development of a technology assessment protocol (afternoon). *LEDate sessions, which connect industry personnel with relevant agency and government representatives in a series of highly efficient ‘speed-meetings.’ (afternoon) The LEDiscovery exhibition is an opportunity for professionals and the public to learn and share knowledge about LED (light-emitting diode) and adaptive lighting and control systems. These technologies can reduce electricity consumption dramatically, lasting up to 100,000 hours while reducing energy usage by over 50%. Other benefits include reduced maintenance costs and adjustable colour and intensity (dimming) settings to suit a wide range of site requirements. The LEDiscovery Forum will feature displays and demonstrations from various LED and Lighting Control manufacturers, as well as the LEDate. The LEDate sessions connect industry personnel with relevant agency and government representatives in a series of highly efficient ‘speed-meetings.’ The March 25 event is supported by the Community Conservation Initiatives Program of the Ontario Ministry of Energy. The March 26 event is supported by the Technology Development Fund of the Ontario Power Authority and the Office of Energy Efficiency, Natural Resources Canada. Event Update: Confirmed as of March 24, 2008 Over 22 LED and Adaptive Lighting Control Technology Manufacturers from as far away as the Netherlands and Taiwan are now scheduled to attend to exhibit to private sector attendees on the 25th and governmental agency and municipal attendees on the 26th. LED City delegates from Raleigh, NC and Ann Arbor, MI will be in attendance, as well as City of Welland which has a LED roadway lighting pilot in process. * Peter Strasser, Executive Director of the International Dark-Sky Association, from Tucson, Arizona, will be addressing the attendees. * Speakers from the Clinton Foundation Climate Initiative, including Michael Cavallo, Lighting Domain Director and Cailey Gibson are confirmed.
