Attention: Community Calendar and Public Service Announcement Editors Toronto site of sustainable management of private woodlots 101 and introduction to the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP) The Trees Ontario Foundation (TOF) is holding free workshops at libraries across Toronto to help woodlot owners sustainably manage their forests and qualify for tax reductions of up to 69% (average reduction 25-30%) through MFTIP. With many Toronto residents owning forested woodlots across Ontario, TOF has scheduled several workshops for the month of May (see list below). The workshops will identify different kinds of forests, the natural processes of forests; the value of wildlife habitat and tree health; managing for recreation, aesthetics, environment (e.g. erosion, water filtration, etc.), maple syrup and forest products; how to set management objectives; and how to qualify for property tax reductions through MFTIP.
