(Sidney, BC) On April 20 Elizabeth May (MP for Saanich-Gulf Islands and national Green Party leader), and Jane Sterk (BC Green Party leader and candidate for Victoria-Beacon Hill) join biologist Dr. Alexandra Morton in presenting the new bio-political documentary
Salmon Confidential in Sidney, BC. The film will be a launch pad for a lively discussion about salmon, economy, politics, science, and this upcoming provincial election.
To date, the Green Party is the only provincial party that has supplied a substantive response that would actually protect wild salmon as the scientific evidence mounts that the salmon farming industry represents serious harm to the valuable wild salmon economy of BC. Their policy position is to remove the salmon farms from wild salmon migration routes. The BC sportfishing industry contributes ten times the revenue to the province than the salmon farming industry and does not destroy fishing grounds with industrial sewage while doing so.
