Media ReleaseData can help local voters defeat the Harper Conservative in strategic ridingsProject Democracy helps progressive Canadian voters identify who the best candidate in their riding is to defeat the Harper Conservative. In order to do this responsibly, Project Democracy is careful to include as much riding level information as possible where national polling data is not enough to paint a clear picture. For this reason, projectdemocracy.ca recently commissioned public opinion polling in eight hard-to-call ridings.
Data from the polling, undertaken by Oraclepoll Research on April 27 and 28, 2011, for the Ridings of
Nunavut, Charlesbourg, Lévis-Bellechasse, Pontiac, Portneuf - Jacques Cartier, Desnethé - Missinippi - Churchill River, Saskatoon -Humboldt and

paul@oraclepoll.comAbout Project Democracy
Project Democracy is an information resource for progressive Canadian voters looking to topple the Harper Conservatives by harnessing the votes of themajority of Canadians. In Canada we don't have an electoral system that directly reflects the will of Canadians. Withour 'first-past-the-post'electoral system, vote splitting could meanCanadians end up witha majority Harper Government with as little as 35 percent of thepopular vote. This is not the outcome most Canadians want, and avoiding it requires voterknowledge and cooperation. Project Democracyprovides that knowledge through careful use of available polling data and analysis of local "on the ground" riding information. If progressiveCanadians vote smart, the majority of Canadians will get a government that better reflects their values.
