Visit a Stoney Creek home that is a great example of energy efficiency

Oct 4th, 2013 6:05 AM

(Stoney Creek, ON, October 4, 2013) Stephen Bieda and his wife are working hard to provide their six children with an education and a legacy of a sustainable existence in the future. Stephen is offering a tour of his home this Saturday, as part of Green Energy Doors Open. Stephen is participating so that his neighbours and friends may learn about how they can create green jobs, and save themselves a lot of money, all while doing something great for the environment. Visit the Bieda home at 72 Nanaimo Crescent between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th to get a look at their 8 kW solar microFIT installation. The home is also equipped with an electric vehicle charging station. Green Energy Doors Open 2013 is the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association’s annual, single-day showcase of the province-wide green energy economy. Green Energy Doors Open is an opportunity to provide free-of-charge access to individual, community, public and commercial sustainable energy projects, businesses, manufacturing sites, education programs and other related initiatives. "We are excited to have over 60 great hosts sharing their stories during Green Energy Doors Open," says Kristopher Stevens, Executive Director of OSEA. "Sustainable energy has the power to drive Ontario's prosperity. These amazing folks are showing us how." Green Energy Doors Open encourages all users, producers and advocates of sustainable energy to open their doors in order to raise awareness, understanding and support for sustainable energy by providing people with the opportunity to visit, see, touch and talk about the projects in their own backyards.
