Oct 4th, 2013 9:58 AM

(North Bay, ON, October 3, 2013) On Saturday, October 5, 2013 the Biomass Innovation Centre at Nipissing University will be hosting several exhibits from local community renewable energy cooperatives and leading tours of local sites. The tours are being offered between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. This is an opportunity to see local solar and biomass projects and learn how you can get involved. Attendees can learn how sustainable biomass is a valuable component of the community energy portfolio and about local renewable energy cooperatives and how to become a member. The Biomass Centre is located at 100 College Drive. This event is one of over 60 locations across the province participating in Green Energy Doors Open. Green Energy Doors Open is the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association’s annual, single-day showcase of the province-wide green energy economy. Green Energy Doors Open is an opportunity to provide free-of-charge access to individual, community, public and commercial sustainable energy projects, businesses, manufacturing sites, education programs and other related initiatives. Green Energy Doors Open encourages all users, producers and advocates of sustainable energy to open their doors in order to raise awareness, understanding and support for sustainable energy by providing people with the opportunity to visit, see, touch and talk about the projects in their own backyards. "We are excited to have over 60 great hosts sharing their stories during Green Energy Doors Open," stated Kristopher Stevens, Executive Director of OSEA. "Sustainable energy has the power to drive Ontario's prosperity. These amazing folks are showing us how."
