Wind turbine climb, walking tour and water heat recovery display for Green Energy Doors Open

(Toronto, ON, October 3, 2013) There are three exciting events happening at the Exhibition Place grounds on Saturday, October 5 as part of Green Energy Doors Open. All three events are examples of successful renewable energy projects that are moving the green economy forward. Green Energy Doors Open has over 60 hosts participating in this province-wide green energy showcase.

Toronto Renewable Energy Cooperative (TREC) is holding its 2nd annual Climb the Turbine event. This is an opportunity to learn about how Toronto achieved the first urban-sited wind turbine in North America, as well as to find out what the inside of a turbine looks like. There may be an opportunity for members of the media to climb the turbine on Saturday, October 5th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To find out if there is a slot available please contact Wesley Normington at 416-993-7460.
The GREENSmart walking tour will start at 1:00 p.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. Those interested are asked to show up 10 to 15 minutes before the tour begins. The tour guide will meet participants at the Direct Energy Centre on 100 Princes’ Blvd., at Galleria Hall B.
Power-Pipe will be at the Sustainable Housing Foundation Booth for the Toronto Fall Home Show, located in the Better Living Building at Exhibition Place from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Green Energy Doors Open 2013 is the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association’s annual, single-day showcase of the province-wide green energy economy.
