Media Advisory Turning Ontario into sustainable energy province focus of Community Power Conference 2009 Building community networks and local energy solutions is the goal of the first annual Community Power Conference (CP2009). Hosted by the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA), this event will build on the foundation of Ontario's new Green Energy Act, and work towards 100% sustainable energy. Dr. David Suzuki is the 2009 Honourary Chair. OSEA defines Community Power as a class of sustainable energy projects that are owned, developed and controlled in full or in part (50 per cent or more) by residents of a community. The concept has met with great success in Europe. WHAT: Meet the key industry leaders, government officials and local community groups that are creating sustainable Community Power projects across Ontario and abroad. CP2009 will celebrate the Micro FIT and Feed-in Tariff programs that will be instrumental to the success of Community Power projects in Ontario, making the province a national leader with its policy to promote green energy. Part of CP2009 is the Power Networking Centre, a trade show, FREE to attend, that provides access to sustainable energy solutions and to Canada's new power generation leaders, in conjunction with APPrO. WHERE: Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building, 800 Level, 222 Bremner Blvd., Toronto, ON M5V WHEN: CP2009 - November 15 to 16, 2009 Power Networking Centre - November 16 to 18, 2009 WHY: To learn how any one of us can be a conserver and generator of sustainable energy through a household or a local community owned business, contributing to the transition to 100% sustainable energy. -30- For more information, please contact: Don Huff huffd@ecostrategy.ca, 416.972.7401 The OSEA works to initiate, facilitate and support the work of local sustainable energy organizations through membership services and province wide capacity-building and non-partisan policy work.
