OSEA to host First Annual Community Power Conference

Media Release Attn: Environment, Renewable Energy and Community Reporters and Editors OSEA to host First Annual Community Power Conference Early bird registration extended until October 30th (Toronto, October 15, 2009) The Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA) is gearing up for the first annual Community Power Conference. Scheduled for November 15 to 16, the conference will bring together industry leaders, government officials and community-based groups involved in sustainable energy projects. "This is a chance for players in the sustainable energy and community power sectors to come together, exchange knowledge and share best practices," remarked Kris Stevens, Executive Director of OSEA. It's a unique opportunity." Early bird registration - which includes a 5% discount - has been extended until October 30, 2009. A 20% discount for groups of five or more is also available. Among the scheduled speakers are: Colin Anderson and Jason Chee-Aloy (Ontario Power Authority), Paul Gipe (Wind-Works), Marion Fraser (Fraser & Company), Henning Holst (Civil/Welding Engineer), Deborah Doncaster (Community Power Fund) and Jen Hennebery (Ontario Co-Operative Association). David Susuki will act as Honorary Chair of the conference. Expect the recently announced Feed-in Tariff (FIT) and Micro-FIT programs to play a significant role in the event. Conference organizers describe these initiatives as central to the success of sustainable community power in Ontario. "The entire sustainable energy sector is very excited about FIT and Micro-FIT," Stevens continued. "OSEA's Community Power Conference will focus on the potential of these programs in terms of community-driven green energy."
