Oct 8th, 2008 11:53 AM

Media Advisory Attention: Community Calendar, Event Listing and News Editors Ontario Nature seeks volunteers to help build the Willoughby Bridge (Caledon Village, Ontario) Ontario Nature is hosting a weekend of bridge building, trail creation, and nature exploration at the Willoughby Nature Reserve near Caledon. Participants will help establish a link across one of the creeks that flow through the 48-hectare property, and extend the reserve’s trail system to allow visitors to view its species and habitats with minimal impact. The Willoughby Nature Reserve branches the Silver Creek, a tributary of the Credit River and actually forms part of the western end of the Oak Ridges Moraine. The animal and plant life found on the reserve are representative of the region and remarkably undisturbed. Resident species include white-tailed deer, coyotes, great-horned owls, pileated woodpeckers and eastern bluebirds. Much of the reserve is recognized as a significant natural area in the Niagara Escarpment. WHAT: Willoughby Bridge Building & Trail Marking WHEN: Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26 beginning at 10:00 am WHERE: Willoughby Nature Reserve is located 5 kilometres south of Caledon Village, just off of Hurontario Street (Highway 10).
