ONTARIO NATURE CELEBRATES EARTH MONTH: Young environmental leaders lead conservation events in Mississauga, Kingston, Barrie, Markham and Thunder Bay

MEDIA/PHOTO OP ADVISORY WHEN: All events are taking place on Saturday, April 30, 2011 and all are free! Celebrate the last day of Earth Month with Ontario Nature’s youth brigade! Ontario Nature’s Youth Council is co-hosting five concurrent environmental events with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for Earth Month, with support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Our Special Spaces conservation events highlight local environmental issues by connecting people of all ages with one-of-a-kind community volunteering opportunities. EVENTS: •Tree planting in Rathwood Park, Mississauga. Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm. Location: Just off Rathburn Rd E., west of Dixie Rd and Rathburn Rd E, north end of the park near entrance off Willowbank Trail. Snacks and tools provided. Contact: Laura at 4freel@live.ca. •Shoreline cleanup in Lemoine Point, Kingston. Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm. Location: Meet at the parking lot on the north side off Hwy 33 at Collins Bay. Snacks and equipment provided. Contact: Drew at sauve.drew@gmail.com. •Wetland trail restoration in Minesing Wetland, near Barrie. Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm. Location: North Simcoe Rail Trail, Minesing Wetland. Meet at Hwy 26 kiosk parking near Minesing. Lunch and equipment provided. Contact: Skye at skye6130@mail.scdsb.on.ca. •Tree planting in Rouge Valley, Markham. Time: 9:30am - 3:00pm. Location: Bob Hunter Memorial Park. Turn into driveway 7273 14th Avenue and meet in parking lot. Snacks and tools provided; bring a lunch.
