Ontario Nature invites residents to participate in Lawson Nature Reserve boardwalk
(Ingersoll, Ontario) Ontario Nature conservation staff and members of the Ingersoll District Nature Club are hosting a day of boardwalk building on the Lawson Nature Reserve, a project that began in 2007 to help protect the vulnerable Salford Swamp.
The Lawson reserve contains a rich variety (more than 200 species) of plants and wildlife characteristic of swampy areas. The terrain is variable and features several types of habitat including wetlands, grassy meadow and hardwood swamp. Visits to the reserve have led to observations of red-tailed hawks, long-horned owls, red-backed salamanders, green frogs, and numerous species of warblers.
