Help Battle Invasive Buckthorn in the Queenston Heights Forest

Come to Queenston Heights Forest at the southern end of the Bruce Trail where the Niagara gorge crosses the Niagara River, and help the Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) and Ontario Nature remove European buckthorn colonies that have invaded this Carolinian forest. This event is a continuation of two similar activities held last year.

In 2007, volunteers from Ontario Nature’s Volunteer for Nature program, Niagara College and the Niagara Falls Nature Club cleared invasive European buckthorn bushes from nearly one kilometre of the Queenston Heights Forest periphery. To lend a hand with this year’s effort, please register online at www.ontarionature.org/action.
