Celebrate the 2008 Forest Capital of Canada with a nature walk! Ontario Forestry Association to host Norfolk County Biodiversity Walk The Ontario Forestry Association invites you to celebrate Norfolk County as the 2008 Forest Capital of Canada by joining them on a nature walk on Saturday May 3, 2008 from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm. This will be a fun and informal full day tour led by knowledgeable conservation and stewardship professionals as they explore the amazing diversity of Norfolk County’s forested areas. The tour will start at St. Williams Forest Centre, Ontario’s first nursery and plantation site, followed by a visit to the centre’s natural forest stands and a natural prairie site that has unique trees particular to the area. A highlight of Saturday’s tour will be a guided walk through Backus Woods to explore the diverse and unique tree species of Ontario’s largest intact tract of Carolinian forest. The Norfolk County Biodiversity Tour is part of a series of 6 nature walks to be held across Ontario this year. The Ontario Forestry Association Nature Walk Series will help you appreciate the diversity of Ontario’s forests and how to identify native tree species. The series is sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
