Sep 8th, 2011 4:34 AM

Media Advisory Those looking to win a $70,000 10 KW solar system prize through the WattsNEXT? (www.wattsnext.ca) sustainable energy video contest only have a couple more weeks to enter their video submission. The WattsNEXT? contest is an opportunity for Ontarians, both young and old, to share and learn about the power of sustainable energy across the province. WattsNEXT? culminates on September 24, when the winners of the top prizes will be announced at Ontario's Green Energy Field Day, a doors-open event showcasing conservation and renewable energy projects across the province. Prizes, which include a complete $70,000 10 kilowatt solar system by AS Solar as well as cash bursaries, will be awarded for the most-viewed videos on the www.wattsnext.ca website. Videos should: • Be no longer than 2 minutes • Explain what's going on in your community now with conservation and renewable energy • Describe how your community can become more sustainable through green energy To enter your video, go to: http://www.wattsnext.ca/index.php To view current video submissions, go to: http://www.wattsnext.ca/video_contest.php WATTS THE POINT? Ontario is North America's leader in conservation and renewable energy. Across the province, windmills, biogas and biomass facilities, small hydro and solar panels are being installed in farmers' fields, First Nations' lands, and on the roofs of homes, schools, churches and factories. Businesses and individual Ontarians are conserving energy, increasing our competitiveness, creating jobs and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. This success is due to the Green Energy Act and its feed-in tariff programs, which have motivated thousands of people across Ontario to become conservers and power producers. It has attracted billions of dollars of green investment in small and large-scale projects. Grassroots support and participation are vital to keep green power building in the province. Sustainable energy is no longer just about the environment or even our health. It is about jobs, investment and the future of Ontario.
