Media Release Climate Action Now joins the GreenSaver family to bring Energy Assessments to St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland, Grimsby (St. Catharines, March 29, 2009) It just got easier to get home energy assessment done in the Niagara Region. GreenSaver, the largest non-profit home energy audit organization dedicated to environmental energy efficiency in Ontario, has added Climate Action Now to their family. "Climate Action Now sees cooperation with GreenSaver as win-win for our community. We have the knowledge of the local building stock and GreenSaver brings benefits such as training, strong quality controls, certified energy advisor support and scales of economies to the home energy efficiency sector. This will benefit local home owners," said Jane Hanlon, Executive Director of CAN, "GreenSaver has emerged as a leading voice in home energy efficiency and consumer protection, so it is a natural fit. We plan to grow with them." "CAN is a strong organization, with a similar culture and an enviable reputation in the Niagara Region for quality of service and community engagement. There are obvious benefits to people seeking energy efficiency services in this region, "stated Vladan Veljovic, President and CEO of GreenSaver. "It's also another way for GreenSaver to contribute to green job creation". There are at least 15,000 homes in the Niagara Region built before 1980-before many energy efficiency building codes existed-which could benefit from an energy assessment. In addition, the mandatory energy ratings proposed by the new Green Energy Act will require increased capacity throughout the province. CAN and GreenSaver will take an active role in improving residential energy efficiency in these communities. CAN is holding its second annual EcoFest Niagara-Niagara's greenest trade show-Sunday, March 29, at Club Roma in St Catharines with valuable presentations, local food, fun and prizes.
