Media Project Briefing – January 25, 2011 Little River Acres (LRA) community-based energy management action planning

Media Advisory What: Media briefing prior to a public two-way information session with LRA community to gather information and inform on the progress towards creating a plan for lowering home heating costs of the community. GreenSaver will convene a Briefing for members of the media immediately before the scheduled public meeting. The session will include a project overview, discuss issues and anticipated next steps. Media are welcome to attend the public meeting, but no time has been allotted for media questions during this community engagement session. LRA is located in the east end of Windsor. It is a neighborhood built in the 1970’s when electricity was abundant and inexpensive and all the households were heated with electricity. GreenSaver, a not-for-profit energy efficiency organization has been retained by the Ontario Power Authority to develop an Energy Management Action Plan for the community with recommendations related to reducing home heating and energy costs for LRA residents. This is the first information session for residents; the media was invited to the kick off session in December of last year. The project is expected to be complete by March.
