Leadership Candidate Says It’s Time For Northern Ontario To Have Stronger Voice
TORONTO - Ontario Liberal leadership candidate Glen Murray heads to Northern Ontario this week, to meet with Northerners and talk about how as Premier he’ll make sure the North has a stronger voice and more decision-making power.
“The North needs its own voice,” says Murray, who was Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities until he resigned to seek the leadership.
“The North is a unique, resource-rich region of Ontario that must continue to diversify its economy to create good jobs. It’s time for renewal - it’s time to see how we can devolve significant authority to the North over its own economy.”
Murray takes his campaign of ideas, action and renewal to Thunder Bay on Thursday morning and then to Marathon, Timmins, Sudbury and North Bay. His campaign is built on five main ideas for renewal for Ontario families and our economy:
• Tax cuts for the middle class and small business
• No-money-down university or college tuition
• Cities and towns that work
• Government that listens - including a stronger voice for the North
• Smart government.
“It’s time to begin the next chapter - to renew the Ontario Liberal Party and to renew Ontario,” Murray said.
