Green Energy Doors Open (GEDO) is a showcase of sustainable energy projects and success stories from around Ontario. GEDO17 runs from September 22-24 across Ontario, with a special Ottawa regional program from September 30-October 1st. This is an excellent opportunity for Ontarians to learn about the many innovative green energy technologies that exist in their communities.
Already more than 100 host sites across Ontario are registered on the GEDO17 website. Some locations and projects include:
- In Sarnia, you can visit Lambton Energy Research Centre-Smart House demonstration centre, featuring geothermal and solar technology
- In Toronto, the Electric Vehicle Discovery Centre, the first facility of its kind provides an experiential learning environment for potential electric vehicle purchasers. Here you can learn about the history and future of electric cars and test drive the latest electric cars from leading manufacturers.
- London’s Western University will host tours of the WindEEE Dome, a one-of-a-kind, three-dimensional and time-dependent wind testing facility. It can create a wide variety of wind conditions including tornadoes, downbursts and gusts used to design turbines and research wind power potential.
- Southbrook Vineyards in Niagara-on-the-Lake will show guests what makes them one of Canada’s “Greenest” wineries and a leading player in biodynamic, organic and other green initiatives. Learn about their organic agriculture program that uses less water, energy.
Last year over 10,000 people visited the 200 GEDO sites. For information about the 2017 GEDO events across Ontario, go to the Green Energy Doors Open
