Organics - Beyond the Hype
Toronto, Feb. 17th, 2007
Growing Up Organic, the first conference in Canada to focus on the health benefits of organic food, takes place in Toronto on Saturday, February 17th, 2007 from 9 am to 5 pm at 89 Chestnut Street (University of Toronto). The Canadian Organic Growers (COG) will also be launching the Growing Up Organic project, which will bring organics to childcare centres nationwide to protect the youngest and most vulnerable members of our society.
Join scientists and nutritional and children's health experts as they present their findings and discuss the health benefits of organic food. Conference topics include the state of our food and its effects on children, the health benefits of eating organics, and organic programs for kids. The concluding panel will address the question: "Are Organics Worth the Price?"
Participants include Thomas Pawlick, author of The End of Food; Dr. Rick Smith, Environmental Defence Canada; Wendy Mesley, CBC Television; Ellen Desjardins, Public Health Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian; and Kathleen Cooper, researcher with the Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA) and co-author of Environmental Standard Setting and Children's Health.
