WHAT:
Ms. Underwood will speak about the emissions benefits of
natural gas as a low carbon fuel for transportation with strategic links to hydrogen and renewable biomethane for transportation.
Joanna D. Underwood is the founder and President of Energy Vision, a national non-profit organization founded to analyze and promote ways to make a swift transition to pollution-free renewable energy sources and to clean, petroleum-free transportation fuels of the future.
Energy Vision conducts research and outreach aimed at heightening understanding of the need to end reliance on oil-derived fuels in transportation and to put transportation on a path to use renewable and pollution-free fuels – ultimately to the hydrogen era.
Ms. Underwood will be in Toronto to speak at the Low Carbon Fuel Standard Workshop being hosted by Pollution Probe on June 3-4th at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, 300 Jarvis Street, Toronto.
Ms. Underwood will speak on the following topics:
• Pathway to hydrogen use for transportation
• Innovation in transportation
• Policy perspective to accelerate the use of alternative fuel vehicles
• Community collaboration as a means to advance the shift to cleaner transportation fuels

Ms. Underwood is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and has an honorary doctor of science degree from Wheaton College. She has participated in many business and government leadership forums, served on advisory boards for the US Department of Energy, participated during the Clinton Administration in the President’s Council on Sustainable Development, served as a board member of The Rocky Mountain Institute and was a member of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority from 1979 to 1999. In 2000, Ms. Underwood was chosen by The Earth Times as one of the world's 100 most influential voices in the global environmental movement.
