Interview Opportunity Attention News/Business/National/International Reporters and Assignment Editors Corporate Knights magazine investigates enterprise development in Sudan (Toronto, Canada, October 28, 2008) Released today, the current issue of Corporate Knights Magazine contains an in-depth look at enterprise development in Sudan. Publisher Karen Kun travelled to the volatile African nation in the summer of 2008 to report on opportunities for the Sudanese in the wake of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement. "There are many issues to be resolved in Sudan, but there is also a lot of progressive activity happening in the local economy," says Kun. "That is the Sudan that most of the world doesn't know." The article explores the possibilities for entrepreneurship in the war-torn nation as a way to employ demobilized ex-combatants as well as rebuild Sudan's social and economic fabric. Kun travels to Khartoum, Juba, and El Fasher, Darfur. She speaks with a blacksmith cooperative, returnees to the south, NGO Practical Action, and representatives from the Bank of Sudan. "Sudan has the potential to become an economic powerhouse," says Kun.
