Media Release Attn: Environment, Energy, Green Building, Construction, Event Editors BOMA Toronto's Conservation and Demand Management Program FREE info sessions about energy efficiency for commercial buildings (Toronto, October 5, 2009) The buzz about Ontario's Green Energy and Green Economy Act, energy conservation and energy efficient buildings is everywhere, from subway conversations to radio shows to infrastructure meetings. The Building Owners and Managers Association of the Greater Toronto Area's (BOMA Toronto) Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) Program is convening a series of free briefing sessions on energy efficiency for commercial properties through 2009 and 2010 The BOMA CDM Program funds retrofits in commercial buildings of 25,000 square feet or larger in the '416' telephone exchange area. The info sessions will to provide details on: Overview of BOMA Toronto's CDM Program • Accessing financial incentives • The Tenant Incentive Program (TIP) • The Energy Conservation Assessment Program (ECAP) • Eligible project costs • Application process Building owners and managers, building maintenance supervisors, contractors, energy consultants and product and service providers of Toronto are encouraged to attend. Below is a schedule of the dates for the upcoming information session dates: Wednesday, October 7, 2009 Thursday, October 22, 2009 Wednesday, November 4, 2009 Wednesday, November 8, 2009 Wednesday, December 2, 2009 Wednesday, December 16, 2009 All sessions will be held at 20 Queen Street West, Suite 2012, Toronto, Ontario M5H 3R3 (BOMA Toronto Office) from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. For further information on the sessions or about BOMA Toronto, please visit www.bomacdm.com, email us at info@bomacdm.com or contact the BOMA CDM Program team at (416) 440-0101. -30- The BOMA Toronto CDM Program has been contracted to deliver electricity conservation to the Ontario commercial real estate market as part of the OPA's larger plan to deliver 6300 megawatts of electricity reduction in Ontario from various sources. The available incentives, which are capped at 40% of the eligible projects costs, are for peak demand, annual consumption or cooling ton reduction, at a rate of $400 per kilowatt, $0.05 per kilowatt hour or $250 per ton (for geothermal space cooling systems), respectively. The Program is designed to maximize participation by the avoidance of both 'process' and 'contractual' complications and the quick delivery of incentive payments.
