Media Release BOMA Toronto's CDM Program has been extended (Toronto, July 21, 2009) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Toronto's Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) Program has been extended to December 31, 2010. The extension allows interested commercial building owners, tenants and channel partners, in the '416' telephone exchange area, to apply for electricity conservation retrofit and assessment incentives. Currently most businesses are in their 2010 budget preparation process, and are contemplating what capital projects to provide for; the following important items are worth considering: 1. Operating cost reduction should be top-of-mind in today's competitive market place 2. The new supply for "AAA" office space will significantly increase the competitiveness for quality tenants 3. Government funding for energy efficiency retrofits are becoming more abundant for commercial buildings 4. The BOMA CDM program can significantly reduce the "pay back" period for electricity efficiency capital projects in the property 5. Reducing energy consumption provides the best 'return' for your investment dollar in commercial real estate 6. Energy efficiency is a need, and not a trend 7. All emission reductions created by your electricity saving projects accrue to the property owner and adds to their social responsibility balance sheet 8. Energy efficiency measures reflect well on management and lead to tenant satisfaction and retention. 9. Reducing use of energy also means increasing the comfort, health and productivity of workers 10. Energy efficiency is a stewardship which allows you to differentiate yourself in a crowded marketplace BOMA Toronto's CDM program wishes to thank the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy and the Ontario Power Authority for the vision in seeing this incredible contribution the BOMA CDM Program has made to the commercial real estate market. It has brought a energy conservation solution for the Province of Ontario. For more information, please visit: www.bomacdm.com Email: info@bomacdm.com Contact: R. Wayne Proulx, Director, CDM Program @ 416-440-0101 or email rwproulx@bomatoronto.org The BOMA Toronto CDM Program has been contracted to deliver electricity conservation to the Ontario commercial real estate market as part of the OPA's larger plan to deliver 6300 megawatts of electricity reduction in Ontario from various sources. The available incentives, which are capped at 40% of the eligible projects costs, are for peak demand, consumption or cooling ton reduction, at a rate of $400 per kilowatt, $0.05 a kilowatt hour or $250 per ton (for geothermal space cooling systems), respectively. The Program is designed to maximize participation by the quick delivery of incentive payments and the avoidance of both 'process' and 'contractual' complications.
